  1. Just defended and completed my PhD in neurobiology and looking to treat myself with some new Titleist equipment to celebrate 5 years of hard work. So what should I get? Some shiny, new custom yellow ProV1s? Some new gear? Maybe that new TS driver I've been wanting? How do you treat yourself?

I'd make up your mind on HOW MUCH you want to treat yourself (if you're not paying college loans for the rest of your life), and then when you do, if it's more than balls, go to one of the Titleist Thursdays, or a fitting with a Titleist pro/rep and get it done right.

I'm usually lucky enough to have credit from sweeps winnings in the pro shop to use before going into my pocket, AND have an outstanding Titleist Staff Pro, AND superb Titleist rep who serves our Club, who make it so easy to make the decisions on treating myself when I deserve it. Which is anytime. Good luck

Go get professionally fitted at Titleist Thursday and celebrate with the right clubs that fit your swing and game.
Then go buy a few Foot Joy outfits and celebrate some more on a GREAT accomplishment.

For me it's usually golf gear.....

    Congrats,

  13. Something my Dad always told me: Treat people the way you want to be treated. How Manchester Lane for a custom fit. This is on my bucket list

    Recommend doing this in steps:

    1. Go see a certified Titleist fitter and find out which of the new clubs is right for your game. There are a lot of options and the fitter will fix you up with the correct set. You have worked hard for five years and you deserve the best......
    2. New golf balls you feel comfortable with. There a lot of good balls for you to choose from. The new yellow balls seem to be very popular since their release in the premium balls. All depends on your level of play and what you want from a golf ball. Look under BALLS on this site and see how they are performing.
    3. Recommend a new pair of golf shoes. Something lightweight and comfortable for walking. Highly recommend either the FJ Pro/SLs (spikeless) or the Fury (spiked).
    4. If you want to go all out go to www.footjoy.com and check out their shorts and shirts. Also check out the hats on this site and pick up one that will go with the outfit.

Time to splurge for all your hard work. Personal congratulations. =)
  15. After all that hard work, I would go on a trip to one of my bucket list courses instead of buying new gear, but that's just me.
  16. Thanks for all the great responses/ideas! I just made an appointment to attend a local Titleist Thursday next week and get fitted for that new TS driver I've been wanting! Will probably throw in a few other things too!

Treat yourself with some memories. Play somewhere nice with someone you care about. You will remember the experience much more than a new dozen balls (but new Pro V's are nice too).

Equipment, no doubt. Do it big! Full bag!
  22. Hey, with the Phd, that makes you "Dr." now doesnt it?

Seems like nice new Stadry bag with "Dr. Benjamin H" embroidered on it would be a great way to celebrate your achievement!
