  1. Today I played Hayling Island for the first time with a mate who is a member there.

I really liked the course - always enjoy links golf and the fairways etc are quite generous as was shown by no lost balls despite a few erratic drives!

It was also nice to play firm greens that rolled well - I can imagine in summer that they could be quite treacherous.

Anyone else played there and what were your perspectives?

Not played there yet but it's on our club match calendar for 2022 so hoping I get picked for that one...

Haven't played there yet but always hearing good things. I love links golf so will have to try and get there soon!

It is quite brutal with a wind blowing, with what can be a quite innocuous par 3 start becoming a real challenge.
There are a couple of quirky holes that add to its charm, with a couple of drivable par 4s and careful course strategy is key, with some penal run offs if you miss in the wrong place.
Being from Portsmouth, I’ve played it a few times and my son had his first experience of playing on the lovely little par 3 that is next to it. Little did we know that “the grown ups’ course” would be where he had his first PGA top 10 finish…
  5. Looks very nice - with the potential to eat your card if the wind is in the "wrong" direction!
