For those that have split sets of irons, how and where did you decide where to end one set and start another?

I have two pretty different sets (CNCPT CP-04s and CNCPT CP-03s). Obviously the 04s are pretty easy to hit and instill confidence, but the 03’s look amazing and are a bit more workable. When I am playing well, I have the 5, 6, 7, and 8 in the 04 and the 9, wedge and 48 in the 03. At the beginning of the season, I sub in the 04 9 iron. I guess in a perfect world, the whole set would be the 03’s if I was a better player..

Just wondering how others manage split sets…

  2. I have a split set of T200 and T150 irons. I use the clubs that dont need extra forgiveness such as 8-GW in the T150 and the more forgiveness (based upon my game) 4-7 T200.

    IMHO!

I think you hit the nail on the head. Regardless of what others do, set up your gamers based on which irons give you the most confidence. A much appreciated rule of golf is that you can only have 14 clubs but no rule as to how you personally set up those 14. Tiger was teasing Freddie Couples the other day for all of his “headcovers” in his bag but many of the Champions Tour guys have given up their long irons and are playing cavity back short irons.

I went with the T200/T350 set. My 5, 6, & 7 are T350, and the 8 thru gap is T200. At fitting I was hitting better than typical and really liked the T200, but I'm not a very consistent player so went with the combo set. I'm very happy with the combo set, but still a little miffed at my inconsistency.

    A popular make-up would be 5-6 in the 04’s and 7-8-9-pw-48 in the 03’s.

I listened to a Titleist sponsored fitter. He looked at how I hit my current set. Starting with the T350 he finally settled on the T200. Note I didn’t push for the T200, I was expecting the T350 to be recommend. Based on the launch, height, and descent angle of my prior set, added a T350 and recommended continued existing hybrids.
Unless you have an issue with your CNCPT irons you might wait for 2025 version irons in 6 months. The T series irons draw heavily on those irons. I would have gone with the CNCPT 4 irons in 2021, but the performance was close to the T300 and I couldn’t justify $330 per club on feel alone.

My fitter helped me with that, when I had my fitting. Made it pretty simple.
