TT Invitational Set-up

    I wanted to get some opinions on the TT Invitational Event for 2022 - I have not had the pleasure of attending any of these events in past years but my wife and I are really hoping to attend in 2022. One concern she has is that she is a newer player (4-years experience - 20 handicap; just got her first set of Titleist clubs last year) and doesn't want to feel crazy pressure when playing. She wants to make sure she would enjoy the rounds. I did not see anything stating a minimum handicap or that the event is a tournament format.

    Hoping the TT community can provide some feedback. Thanks!

    There's no handicaps!! See no problem as long as she keeps up pace of play (and that goes for anyone)!

    I'm lucky enough to have attended a multiple national TT Invitational events over the years. My significant other has attended a couple of the events with me. I know she shared a similar apprehension about attending and that was quickly squelched. The TT staff who put together event (there's a large team that organizes everything) puts an emphasis on enjoyment and camaraderie. If you both are comfortable meeting like minded Titleist enthusiasts then the TT Invitational will not disappoint.

    I attended my first last year. I have a higher handicap and never felt that anyone thought less of me. It was the best golf trip I have ever been on. We were all there to have fun and mingle with other Titleist groupies. So don't worry and go have the best time together.

    The event is not a competition. There is no handicap limit. Sort of like a bunch of guys getting together on a Saturday. Except at a really nice resort with 78 other Titleist enthusiasts. Assuming it will be in August or September, there will be part of a day with the next generation woods. Part of another day will have a special guest. Michael Breed and Bob Vokey in the past. Any golfer can play whatever tee box matches their comfort zone. At age 72, I limit myself to 5800-6200 yards. Recent sites have hav had par 3 or or putting trails. Site of the most serious competitions.

    And yes, there are other women that come to play. As well as one or two Titleist staff.

    The events are pretty laid back and geared towards having fun and meeting fellow golf/Titleist enthusiasts. I would say to go for it and sign up. Hope to see you there!

    I don't remember seeing a minimum handicap requirement. There are golfers of all skill levels at these events so there is no pressure. Everyone is out there just to enjoy playing golf and meeting / getting to know other Titleist enthusiasts.

    They ask for a handicap on registration, only to correlate handicaps to group foursomes. If you request to be grouped with others, the handicap is not used.

    It is a super fun experience and I am sure your wife will enjoy it. While I do not believe there is any pressure imposed by the event (possibly self-imposed!), or by any of the participants, there is a friendly competition in the background but nothing which needs to be the focus of the event. There are no minimum handicaps in play though they will ask for one when registering.

    What I will say, is that typically these events are held at what most of us refer to as "Bucket-List" venues. As such, the courses can be quite challenging. That said, as long as you keep the right attitude (i.e. accept that you will shoot 5 to 10 strokes above your normal round depending on the course) then these are experiences not to be missed.

    That is a Team Titleist event but not the annual national Team Titleist Invitational.

    I know it’s selfish, but I’d love to see a TT event in June or July. August and September are the months for HS golf here in Ohio, and I can’t really take off as the coach. Someday perhaps…

    Having a TT event is based on when they can get the best rates for us. The summer months in the golf industry are primetime and demand primetime rates. In most of the places the events have been, at the time of year, the temperatures are rather hot and humid. TT staff members put a lot of time and consideration into planning of the Annual Events and they are quickly filled up, in most cases the first day. Hopefully one day you can join us. Maybe they will fall during a vacation time. =)

    Not to mention, the summer months also find a lot of people are tied up with family vacations. I know as someone who hosts outings for a living, those are the slowest months of the year, as people tend to be less available.

    And yes the hot humid weather of July and August in much of the south and east coast doesn't help either!

    I personally like the fall getaways, even though it comes during my busiest time of the year work wise, I have manged to make it to three of them and only missed the last two due to COVID issues.
