    Lethbridge,

Now that the golf season is pretty much over I'm just wondering how everyone did with their goals for the the year. As I was removing my goal sheet from the front of my filing cabinet I took a moment to reflect on how I did with my goals for the year. Actually it was pretty good. I managed to improve my short game which allowed me to accomplish three other goals. I reduced my index goal set at 5.0 or less and hit 2.9. I had more rounds in the 70's. the last goal was to par my home course actually managed two sub par rounds. I did miss on keeping up the yoga and stretching now I have all winter to get back into it. How did everyone else do?

I actually did rather well. Had back surgery in February. Completed PT successfully and was released by my doctor to playing golf full time this week. My goal was the first of the year, then Thanksgiving. Hoping I can start walking the course again soon. Only time will tell. Physically in pretty good shape and have lost a few pounds.
  3. Hi Scott:

    1. Relish the chance to play the sport I love--done, playing regularly is great 2.Get back in 70s consistently- only once but showing some signs of getting there more often. 3.Get index back down to 7.5 or less--not happening, hope to be a 9 when all said and done, too many mental errors 4.Play more with my wife who is taking up the game.--doing more of this happy wife happy life! 5.Get back into playing tournaments-work, life and COVID got in the way. 6. Win more Sunday morning matches than I lose--so far so good but just barely 8-7.

Actually had one of my better years. Due to COVID and golf courses opening later, our league schedule was reduced, nevertheless, I was pretty happy when I saw the year end stat sheet.

I finished 2nd in scoring average, 2nd in quota average and first in %of holes scored. We play 9 hole matches:

Scoring average 37.75; Quota avg. 16.0 ; Percentage of holes scored (bogie or better) 95.8%

Also, it took me until November 1, but I managed to shoot even par last Sunday. The only negative is for the first time in many years, I have not (yet) had a round under par.

I'll probably play through Thanksgiving, and then put the clubs away. All in all I had a good year....so far.

I feel pretty good about my season... I have a couple of weeks left, but it's ending quickly. I wanted to get to single digits on my HI and I ended up getting to a 9.5 GHIN! Lowest I've ever been! I did have more rounds in the 70s with a streak of 5 consecutive rounds in the 70s, loving golf, playing good golf makes it even more fun. My favorite round of the year was with my dad, he came to visit me in Southeast Idaho and we dueled it out and he came out on top by a stroke, 79 to my 80! He's 70 years old to boot!

I crushed all of my 2020 goals! My proudest goals I achieved was to shoot a round better than a 76 and I did with a 74 and a 73. The other was to get my handicap below a 7 and I got it down to a 4.5. 2020 was maybe a crazy year in other parts of my life but it was good to my golf game.

I did really pretty good.... I started as a 21.8 hdcp (4 years of struggles heading into this season)

(May) I changed to 1 ball position in my stance.
(June) went to a new address & routine
(Late June) took a lesson & A Titleist Thursday Fitting
(July) after my Titleist Thursday fitting for the T-irons I lengthened my clubs 1/2" & 2 degrees up
at that point things started to go well and scores started to lower.
(September) I got my new T-200 irons boy those are nice.....

As of today I am at a 13.6 hdcp..........

My irons went from regular flex back to stiff
My irons went from standard (last 5 years) to 1/2" longer & 2 degrees up again. was that back in 2011

I am back to hitting 35% fairways opposed to 22% over the last 3 years

My GIR still is terrible 20% but my misses are just off the green, so my Up/Dns are at 33% this year
Putts are still at 32 as they have been for years

    Since my lesson & club work I have broke 90 - 10 of 18 rounds including a 78. with a high round of 94. Before that shot a few 98's & a lot of 94, 95 scores...

    In September I played 5 rounds & broke (40) 5 times

All in all it's been a wonderful year for me, I am finally seeing the game I know I can play & the scores I expect to shoot. When I get my GIR up the sky will be the limit.

    Last thing:
I have a new TSi2 10 degree Hzrdous Black 6.0 stiff driver on order as well, opposed to staying with my 915D2 Diamana 60 Regular flex.

Our season is slowly dwindling here in Kansas so hopefully I get a chance to hit the new driver this year......

This is the first year I have really taken golf seriously since my teens and I just cracked the single digits for my golf handicap. I'm super excited that I can say that at 41 I play better golf than when I was 21. Can I hit it as far... NO, but that doesn't matter on the scorecard. This year I have really focused on the driver and putting because thats where I was historically loosing way too many shots. 2021 goal is to get those approach and chipping numbers in the single digits as well.

  10. I reached some goals, other fell a little short.
    1) HC under 10. Started at a 10.7 and ended at a 8.9
    2) Shoot in the 70's. Shot 80 a few times but couldn't get it done.
    3) Don't shoot in the 90's. Shot 90 and 91 this year.
    4) Play more rounds. This year I played 20 rounds. For some, it's not a lot. For me it was a lot more than previous years.

Overall a great year of golf for me.
