While I have been home recovering from some surgery, and had free time on my hands, I did a little research. I was curious to see how many times The Masters had been won using a Titleist golf ball. Recent records make it relatively easy to find out information. But going back in years, what brand of ball the winners were playing is harder to find. There really was not a "What's in the bag" going back then.

Titleist golf balls have been played in the lowest scoring rounds and the highest scoring rounds. Tiger Woods in 1997 (Titleist Pro 90) and Jordan Speith (ProV-1X) at 18 under par. Zach Johnson in 2007 (Pro-V1X) at 1 over par. He shot the same as Sam Snead back did back in 1954. ( Do not know what ball Sam Snead was playing)

Going back to 1991 (Ian Woosman) to 2019 (Tiger Woods), Titleist golf balls have won 15 out of 29 Masters.

One interesting thing was, Mark O'Meara winning with a Top Flite Strata back in 1998.

What I really would like to know is: Who was the first person to win with a Titleist ? I will continue to dig...

Wow this is a cool post. Those Strata balls were all the rage back then! They didn't last though, no ball has proven to last the test of time like Titleist has. Best in the business!

I played the Top Flight Strata in the 90's. Top Flight never put out a "players ball" but the advertising and marketing peeked my interest.I tried it on a whim, thinking it was just a Top Flight with some 90's tech thrown in. How wrong I was; great golf ball! Might be the best ball Top Flight ever produced;thin cover and you could spin it with the irons and long off the tee. The thing I liked the most was how great it felt off the putter.
I won my first city championship with that ball in 1993. Still have it in a drawer some where. Nice memory...
  4. I have always referred to most top flight golf balls as Top Rocks. Never cared for them myself in my game.
