On Newbreed golf radio this morning, he was talking about whether or not a simulator Hole in One is actually a hole in one.

So let's hear from you TT Nation.

    1. Would Titleist give us the medallion for it?

    2. Is it actually a Hole in One

    Not to me.
it is not a real hole in one, simulators are great but I do not think it would ever give me the sense of accomplishment on doing it on the course.

Not really in my opinion. Nice shot though.

I would say it doesn't count and no to both of your questions.

Simulator golf is video game golf, period. So it's shouldn't even be a discussion whether it's an actual hole in one or not. I hope Michael Breed ended that discussion rather quickly..

MB was actually pretty for it being a Hole in One. I can't remember what he said exactly but his argument was.

Personally I say great shot, but no you didn't actually get it. Most people were against it but there was a good number of saying no.

Is a 62 on a simulator a new course record at Oakmont?

No, a simulator hole-in-one does not count!

No In my opinion it should not be counted. A golf simulator is a controlled environment versus actually playing outside with all mother nature has to throw at us.

Funny timing of this question. Last night during our weekly league I played with a guy that had a hole-in-one. Great shot! High fives around! BUT, not for one second did he think it would count towards his hole-in-one tally.

I personally would not count it as a hole-in-one either. Agree with Speedy that it is closer to a video game than a real round of outdoor golf. Zero elements and a perfect mat lie....it's a SIMULATOR. The developer of the software has more impact on the bounce of the ball than anything else. It "simulates" golf.

Same goes with other accomplishments indoor vs out. I made 12 birdies and shot a 60 last week indoor but have yet to break 70 outdoor. It's a LOT of fun but don't make it something it is not.

No chance this should count. An ace is a treasured experienced and shouldn't be watered down by a simulated environment.
  13. This isn't even the equivalent of your buddies giving you a mulligan on the course and then you drop it in. Not a hole in one. There isn't even a hole!

I hope that your trying to be funny by even asking.

Not for me , needs to be on a proper course for me , but that’s just my opinion,

As I said before, I do not believe it should count as one! The argument about the simulators being a video game is pretty bad though. Most simulators factor in Spin Rate, Wind, Weather, Shot Trajectory, among other things. As well most tee boxes you are hitting off a consistent piece land similar to what you hit off with a mat. Video game is Clash of Clans golf or WGT on your phone.

The argument of should it be consider is interesting enough. Whether we love it or not, that type of golf (simulator, top golf, etc) is the growing side of golf, not the side we all love to play.
  17. It should not be considered an actual hole in one and I would vote no on whether or not it warrants a medallion. I would have a hard time holding back laughter if I asked someone how they got their hole in one and they started by saying, "Well it was in this simulator out in Florida..."

Why it may be a great accomplishment. A simulator is a very useful but nonetheless a glorified video game. Its gonna be a no from me

I would say that it is not a hole in one.In my opinion it has to be on a golf course.
  20. That might be a stretch. Actually the pro on golf channel just had a hole in one while giving a lesson on tv. I wonder if Titleist sent him a medal. Either way congrats.
