  1. Hi I'm looking to join my local club. I'm thinking Twilight membership because I can go straight after work.

The course is a 9 hole and I think 9 is all I will be able to manage after work to be honest so it seems perfect.

I love to know your opinions on the matter?

I think playing more and getting a handicap would be awesome for me.

    Thanks.

  2. In my opinion first thing in the morning is better than after work because you're not as tired, but I don't know your schedule. Just go play golf as much as you can.

I had a great run with a 9 hole Wednesday twilight league! One B flight trophy and one long drive trophy! Sigh. 20 years ago, but never forget the memories or the great golf with those guys! GO! Run!! Enjoy

I think it is a great way to stay connected to the game when life is busy. You know your schedule best so go with your gut. I have young kids so weekends can be a challenge for full rounds. It is easier for me to find smaller pockets of time here and there to practice, play some holes or just go to the putting green. For me, a lot of those opportunities come after work where my family may be tied up with something else. So, twilight is when I get to play most. The one thing that has been a constant is my Thursday night league. I think this will be my 11th or 12th year of doing that. Having that one night on the calendar has been one of the best things I could have done for my golf game during that time.

So - yes to twilight and even better if you can get in to a regular game or league.

    Good luck!

    Rich,
Marlborough Country Club is my home, but the 9 hole is was most talking about was Whitinsville. Donald Ross. I think between you, me, and Speedy, and a few others around, we should be able to set up a couple of TT outings this season in the area. Watch this site too, Rick, Abby, and company organize TT events around and even had an indoor one close by last winter. If you see one, sign up. If you haven't met these folks in person, they are even better in person than they seem on the site. Always a great time.

Excellent, Tom. I haven't played Marlborough or Whitinsville but hear great things. I play out of Cyprian and Wachusett mostly. I have played quite a bit of golf with Speedy, Josh G and Mike D over the past few seasons. In fact, I will be playing the MA Four Ball in May with Josh. I was able to make 1 of the indoor TT events last year at Dr Green's but could only stay for a short while. We certainly have a great crew in the area so hopefully we can pull together something for this season.

I play in a 9 hole league at our course. It has 72 members, and a waiting list to get in, it is so popular. Nothing wrong with a 9 hole course either. If the weekends come and you want more, go around again for 18. Meet the membership and exchange home and away play with those you might know at other courses. We're blessed with a couple of arguably the best 9 hole courses in the country in our neck of the woods, along with some very exclusive ones too. Good luck and Enjoy

Once the clocks change (daylight savings here in UK) I play a full 18 after work every week so I'd say go for it!

In the end it's whatever makes you happy. If you like the course and it's worth the cost of joining there then do it. Nothing wrong with a 9 hole course. Maybe mix it up every time you play there, play with only 3 clubs, only 5 make it interesting to work on your game.

I recently got a membership and did non-restriction meaning I can play any time. Only did this b/c weekend mornings is usual best for me and my family. Play golf early in the morning and then spend time with the family after. And I'll also be doing a few holes after work. Can't wait for the season to start.

Enjoy your new membership if you get it!
  12. I have a twilight membership and love it as it works for me. I work weekends and my hours are 6a-2p so I really have no need for a full blown membership as I wouldnt use all the perks of the tournies and other stuff that goes with it.
My twilight is after 2pm and changes to 12pm when the days get shorter. I think it changes with the clock change. I can always get 18 in. I can play 36 if I get a cart durimg weekdays on longer days.

Dude do it! Support your local club, play golf when you can! If you can only fit 6 holes in, then play 6 holes! You won't have to worry about cutting a round short if your not paying the daily fee! Gonna be an awesome season

I’ve started playing after work and depending on what time I finish I might only get 5 or 7 in. We even managed 16 holes last week - although in honesty we were only guessing where our tee shots had gone on the 16th it was so dark.

    I say go for it!

Sounds like a good choice. 9 holes after work always worked well for me when I was busy on the weekends. Enjoy it.

I play my work league every year, we play 9 holes once a week for about 20 weeks.
It is fantastic, my work schedule won't allow me to play more during the morning, but I am my self, contemplating of getting a twilight season pass for my son and me to play after my work and his school at least one day a week, maybe Fridays since I usually work from home on Friday.

The # 1 thing I believe to joining a place is location. As long as you can get there easily you will use it. I joined a private course 6 years ago and play it all the time 6, holes, 9 holes, 18 holes... Before that I played at a public course less than 10 minutes from my house and had a season pass so I used it all the time fitting in holes when I could.

Its great to have a place to play where you get to know people who play at the same times you do.

    Do it!

I say do it.I think you will play more often and enjoy the fellowship.Who knows you may knock a stroke or two off your score. Have fun.
  20. Absolutely it would help. Playing 9 can be just enough to relax and decompress after a long day at work. Plus consistency will help your game . Twilight is a good call for you! Enjoy

I agree with Ralph H. I used to play occasionally after work to decompress, especially after daylight savings time kicked in, finishing up 9 just as the sun was setting. I almost always played alone, and the solitude was nice. I like people, but not hearing a human voice for nine holes was also pleasant.
