With the Waste Mangaement tournament going on right now it raises the question,"Should more tournaments bring in the fan factor that this one does?"

It certainly gets the players fired up and and possibly puts more pressure on them then what there is already. With that it definitely gets ratings up and more people want to watch this tournament.

So I ask you all this question: Should more tournaments embrace the fan factor and put up a little football like stadium?

    Let me know below\/

I play a lot of opens, you always have longest drive holes, closest to the pin at par 3s, scratch and handicap sweeps.

Some other courses have done you can only use 1 club in your bag for that hole lol

And the only other one I can think of was,
You get a free drive if you use the old hickory wood and land on the fairway lol

Yes I would like to see more like it, except for the Masters. Sacred ground right there.

I'm not for copying the WM model. I like keeping it a unique tournament.

I agree, it's unique, which I think is a big part of what makes it fun for the fans and golfers alike. If you want that atmosphere, that's the tournament for you. Personally as a fan, I don't have any desire to wait hours to get in the grand stands, I prefer a more relaxed environment when I attend a tournament, but it sure is entertaining to watch on tv, and everyone who is there has a good time.

Most of the TPC courses that were built were designed as stadium courses with fan viewing in mind.

I guess I am old fashioned. I believe this is appropriately named, Waste Management.
  8. I like it the way it is, “that one stop on tour”, is what makes it special.

expanding this setting to other tournaments will dillute how special this one site is each year. I view it as a special one-off that I look forward to. If every other tournament had a similar set-up, the appeal would be lost.
    Law of diminishing utility

By adding the same type of stadium like hole set up, the WM would stop being special, most tournaments by itself are very entertaining without the extra fuss.
I am not sure I want to see too many of copycats for the WM around the regular tour tournaments.
For sure not at the Masters

The Waste Management tournament is great. Keep it that way. Other tournaments have their own identity as well and they are great. Let's keep it that way.
    Play Well,

  12. I'm a one and done vote too.

Interesting to see how the intensity of behavior is unsustainable for even the full 4 days...the 16th sounded like a library on Sunday compared to Saturday.

Call me a fuddy duddy... I prefer old soul, but I like the etiquette and traditions of golf. I do appreciate the idea of that o e event, but when you need cops with helmets on at a golf tourney you may have gone too far...

I was at the WM Open on Saturday. We had a good time, but it's a total SH!T SHOW, in my opinion. That is the craziest place I've ever been.....it's like Mardi Gras/ Spring Break, but with a golf tournament happening in the middle of the party. Would I go back? Yes, but I'd do it differently. Maybe I wasn't aware of the total picture, but I feel like a large portion of the attendees weren't there for golf- they were there to party, which surprised me. It wasn't just the 16th (I didn't bother trying to get there), the party was course-wide.
  16. I'm not old school by any stretch, but I would like to see this atmosphere remain unique to that of the waste management.
