  1. Would you rather get a double eagle or a hole in one? Decisions, decisions...

    :-) That's a tough choice!

Since a hole in one is an eagle set up on a tee to hole in one stroke, a double eagle is even more difficult as the ball had to played from a previous shot through the green. Yeah, I would love for me to have a double eagle in the book.
  7. Anyone who says double eagle... is just trying to avoid a bar tab!

lol :-) ...thank goodness for the 'hole in one insurance!' right!

Anyway, has anyone had a "Hole In One on a par 4?" That would be the best of both world- a double eagle and a hole in one! :-)

Or- How many of you have had the "double eagle on a par 5?"

I have had one of each in my career. But the HIO was pretty special since it was at the 1st FJA Invitational.

I've had three double eagles but that ace still eludes me. I vote for the ace, though I think a double eagle is statistically
    tougher to get.

Great question...my twin brother got a hole in one, my father got a double eagle. They argue all day about which is better. Bottom line, double eagle is way more rare to get...but hole in one gets all the glory

  14. I've been lucky/fortunate enough to have a double eagle, and 2 hole in ones. But if I do happen to be lucky enough to have either again, I'd vote hole in one because it pays out more in our group lol.

I think it is all in the eyes of the beholder. Me I like the HIO. Have three on my testimonial wall in my mancave. One DE many years ago. Odds for a hole in one, for an amateur 12,500 to 1. But the double eagle or the albatross, the rarest of the birds, is about 6 million to 1 for us amateurs. Why HOI, I like to see it go that Titleist ball go in the hole, up close. Cheers...

I have had 4 double eagles, and have yet to get my first ace. So I am going to lean toward the ace because it continues to elude my efforts. I have hit the hole's edge 6 times, hit the flag more times than I can count, but still no ace.... The hunt continues...

I have two double eagles on the books, but the hole in one still eludes me. The closest I ever came to a hole in one was on a par 4 at a friends club where the ball was overhanging the edge of the cup. I could not see the bottom of the flag from the tee box so it was clearly luck over skill, but still looking for the elusive ace. Many close but no cigar instances, but none finding the bottom of the cup.... YET!
