  1. Hey, all. I came across an great offer to buy a set of 718 AP3 club heads 4 iron-6 iron. I am contemplating buying them and replacing the heads on my 716 AP2 4-6. However, I was wondering if there would be an issue with using the same shafts since there is likely a difference in club head weight between the two sets. Also, would I need different ferrules or are they the same? I am currently using True Temper S300 shafts if that makes a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'd say if you are going to be changing shafts may as well sell your current set and go for a Titleist fitting Thursday and see which shaft suits you best. I guarantee that the shaft they fit you for would suit you much better than the off the shelf TT S300's.

It may be easier to just buy new shafts for the heads. TT DG shafts are readily available and are not that expensive. It will save you the time of pulling them from your current clubs and eliminate any chance you damage them.

I second JKissoon, The shafts are the engine of the club, a good fitter can find the correct shaft for you.

I'd say, get new shafts for all irons. That's what I'm doing in my AP2 716 short/mid irons and my AP3 718 long irons. It's not very expensive. Just make sure to go to a reputable club mechanic who can also adjust swing weight if necessary. And get fitted for them.

Also, though not a big deal at this stage, down the road, if you ever want to sell your AP2s, they will have non-matching shafts in the set. Less marketable like that.
