    Hey, Team Titleist.

The PGA TOUR returns to TPC Sawgrass this week for The PLAYERS Championship. We were fortunate to have played the Stadium Course at last year’s Team Titleist Invitational and one of the highlights was getting to play the signature hole, No. 17 with its island green.

Seeing photos of 17 again made us wonder - what’s the best Par-3 hole you’ve ever played? Whether it’s the toughest, the most picturesque, or just the most fun to play, we want to know what you think. Share you favorites in the comments section below.

I’ll kick things off with my favorite - No.9 at Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton, Mass.  No. 9 shares a few things in common with No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass. Like No. 17, it only plays about 130 yards. There’s a pond fronting the tee box, too, though the water is not really in play. You can make any number imaginable, from an ace to a triple or worse. And it’s visually intimidating. No. 9’s defense is a tiny, skinny green that measures only 9 yards at its widest and a host of steep coffin bunkers that surround the entire putting surface. How steep? Check out the steps in the second photo below.

What a great a great looking hole.

One of my favorite par 3's is number 17 at Whistling Straits (Pinched Nerve).

This hole can be a brute when playing into the wind. I can speak from experience that a shot missed to the left of the green will present an opportunity at a very challenging bunker shot.

Indeed, the view alone is intimidating with the mound on the right protecting.. As a LH, I dare not fade with all those narrow terraces down to the lake. Unfortunately, I have inadvertently dared to fade. All you can see is the next couple of terraces and sky.

Have not played the 17th at TPC, but I have played the 7th at Pebble Beach. I've hit anything from a sand wedge to a 5 iron (into a 40 mph breeze). Love the hole!!!

The Postage Stamp. For 130 yards it can play anything from a sand wedge to a 6 iron. Miss the green and 6 is in play.
  8. This is a great hole. Played it once about 10 years ago, missed to the right, made bogey. Happy to have escaped alive.

    Hi Rick,

A couple of my favourite par 3 holes.

The first is the No.6 called the "Cliff-hanger" -- it's the signature hole at the Greywolf course at Panorama near B.C.'s Rocky Mountains. The photos are courtesy of both Greywolf Course and Tripadvisor.ca

The other Par 3 for me is No.14 at the Lake Coeur d'Alene Resort course is accessible by a small boat! North Idaho in the summer months are fantastic and this is definitely one to play! The photo is from pga.com

No.14 at the Lake Coeur d'Alene Resort. this is #2 on my bucket list, #1 is #17 TPC Sawgrass.
  12. It has to be either the 15th or 16th at Cypress Point GC in California. I was lucky enough to play what I think is one of the greatest golf courses in the world back in 2002. I only hope that I might play here one more time in my life.

Agree with Todd on this one. Depending on the wind, this one can be a real brutt. The view is second to none.

  15. My all time favorite is #17 at Eagle Eye in East Lansing, MI. It may look similar to another famous #17. I would say that I'm about 90% of hitting the green versus missing the green.

I've played TPC Sawgrass and I'm -1 lifetime on #17. :) But the two the come to mind immediately for me are #6 (now #15) at East Lake, and #17 at Harbour Town.

  17. No. 7 at Pebble Beach. Short and easy under normal conditions; practically impossible when the wind is blowing - especially when it is blowing straight in your face.

Easy one for me...TPC River Highlands #16. Amazing hole with some crazy turns on the green. Also Traditions island hole in CT...wife and I got married there and always takes us back 10 years ago when we play it.
  20. Number six at Cruit Island Golf Club, Ireland.

My favorite is #11 at Rocky Point in Middle River, MD. It is a semi-peninsula shaped hole facing out into the Chesapeake Bay. Just looking at it, it would appear to be a simple hole, but the winds coming off the Bay and surrounding rivers make this anything but easy. I play this course at least 16 times a year and many times no one in our foursome will hit the green! Still, my best hope for an ace!

    3. #7 at Pebble. It was a great day!
    2. #16 at Cypress Pointe. My all-time favorite course.
    1. #11 at Briarwood C.C. (What...?) It was my home course where I made my first hole in one on May 18th, 2010. That's the day I joined #TeamTitleist! Eight years ago! It was a great day! Ran all the way to the hole from the Tee box and saw my Titleist in the bottom of the cup!
