    I know we are all a little different here, but I know we can all agree on one thing. Golf is better played on courses that don't look like a dig site, and with greens that don't look like they've been pounded by a hail storm. As the game grows, and more and more people are out on the courses, this seems to be a trending topic. Let's just always remember to repair our divots, and fix our ball marks! It takes 2 seconds, and can be the difference in a good and great course.

    Honesty I love fixing my divots. It makes me feel like i hit a legit shot, and if you act like a pro you fell good and inturn play better. My dad taught me something that stuck with me in adulthood...always fix your divot plus one other on the green.

    I couldn't agree more Blake. A course I play often looks like the hail storm you talk about. I'll go around and fix 4-5 ball marks every green. It's pretty sad that some don't even attempt to fix them.

    Not sure I was able to figure out what PSA is, but I completely agree with fixing ball marks on the green. I will usually fix between 5-6 on every green.

    Once I am done fixing my own and marking my ball, I usually take a walk around the green and fix a few other ball marks while waiting to putt or while others are putting out.

    Good habit to get in, and I am sure your fellow members will appreciate your efforts and hopefully take a lesson from you and do the same.

    PSA - usually refers to a "Public Service Announcement".

    I completely agree with everyone here about looking after our golf courses from tee to green. What I find so disappointing some days is that it seems like a "war on ball marks" will never be won!

    On some courses, I could literally spend 15 minutes repairing ball marks and still have plenty more that could be repaired.

    PSA is usually Public Service Announcement. I agree and don't understand why people don't fix marks. It's one of the best things about belonging to a private track- it gets less play, and the golfers tend to clean up after themselves.
    It's never fun to putt on greens that look like the surface of the moon.

    I counted 47 pitch marks on the 9th green at my home course. Absolutely sickening to see this. It takes like 5 seconds.

    Could not agree more! I personally hate it when somone leves giant divots on the green, it shows a over all lack of respect for the game

    Couldn't agree more, fix your ball mark! Usually before I putt or while i'm waiting for a player to putt, i'll fix a few if i see them.. It drives me nuts people can't take the time to bend over and fix their mark... Takes 2 seconds... That's it....

    Its the "all about me" attitude! Same with not raking bunkers and leaving broken tees in the ground!

    Last summer at a local muni on a busy Saturday, the starter was handing out bark mark repair tools to each player and asking them to repair their own marks plus another. That round I struggled to find a second mark to repair...awesome, right?

    Wondering about the cost effectiveness of that approach, but from an etiquette instructional impact, top shelf. Would love to see that more often.

    I play on a military course, and usually fix 2-4 ball marks on each hole. The best way to combat it is to promote it from the Pro shop through the starter. Most golfers don't even know the proper way to repair a ball mark. I once showed a guy how to repair a ball mark, and he said he had never seen that before. He didn't even know he was supposed to fix them! Not really his fault, he was never taught. So, only those courses that run a constant promotion, and lessons, about "repairing ball marks" will have nice, smooth greens. All others will still wage the endless battle.
