TPI Evaluation – Follow up
This is a follow up from a previous post about going to get a TPI Evaluation. So the gentleman I saw is a chiropractor. He is level 1, 2, and 3 TPI certified. Great guy and a big golfer, currently a 2 HCP and I’ve seen him on the courses before so it was nice to meet him...
Anyways, long story short I flunked.. Miserably..
Here’s quick glimpse about me; I’m 43, I do crossfit but hardly EVER stretch ( It showed) and I love golf…
The evaluation lasted about an hour. He logs onto a TPI portal that only TPI certified professional have. He enters my information and then we start going through a series of test/questions/what can I do. As I’m doing them, he would enter the results in the portal. Once it’s completed, it would provide a final results and what exercises I should be doing to correct those issues.. It also provided a fitness HCP, I was a 28.. That’s REALLY bad…. My posture is good but after that it’s downhill. I need a lot of work on my mobility, stability and any other “bility” there is.. I’ll be honest some of tests were tough to do, I basically have ZERO flexibility and very stiff..
I have 16 exercises and it’s up to me to do them. He tells me a lot of people come in for evaluations but never do the exercises so if I want to see improvements with my body, swings, etc., I really need to focus on them. It’s not something I need to do every day but at least 3 times a week is ideal. I now have access to the TPI portal to view all my exercises. Each one has a little video on how to do them and for how long; reps, etc. I tried a few last night and it was tough but excited this will help me in the long run.
So yeah I’m VERY happy I did this. There’s hope but I need to commit which I plan on doing.. I highly recommend everyone of all playing ability to do this.. My guy was awesome and you could tell he really knew his stuff from correct posture, to how the upper body and lower body should be working correctly.. I definitely learned a lot from him.. It'll be fun to see how it goes.. I have another 2-3 months before I start playing again so this will be my dedication the rest of the winter....
