Saw Mark Crossfield’s YouTube announcement about his partnership with Titleist.

He puts out some quality instructional and gear videos.....it will be interesting to see how this works during 2018.

  3. It is a very good move for Mark who has been unbiased and the biggest advocate of custom fitting since day one.

I have been a long time subscriber, in fact I have just finished watching the christmas special.

He may be a bit marmite but I like him and I cant wait to see what the partnership brings.
  4. He has always been slightly annoying to me. Most likely because I am a southerner and he talks fast. haha. Going to check out his channel and learn more about the change. He was playing the Chrome Soft last time I was tuned in. Glad to hear he has come to his senses!

Mark does produce some good equipment reviews. It was good to hear him explain that Titleist still expects him to produce equipment reviews as he sees fit and that there was no requirement for him to endorse Titleist equipment.

I really appreciated that from Titleist -- as he stated in his video Titleist is confident enough in the quality and craftsmanship of its equipment. Sounds to me like a pretty good "win - win" all around.

I have watched Mark's video about his arrangement with Titleist. This should be a very good move. Mark has quite a following and Titleist leaving Mark to maintain his independence should really pay off both for Mark and Titleist. I am curious which irons Mark is going to be playing. On his video, you can see that he is going to be using the 917 D2, 917 F2, and 818 H1 (I believe) hybrid, plus Vokey wedges.

Does anyone know if others were considered? I'm a fan of Rick Shiels.

I find Rick Shiels becoming too much cheerleader, his product reviews have fallen off. He likes everything......just saying

I like crossfield he is more of an it's the Indian not the arrow guy. Throughout all his past reviews he has mentioned how much he likes Titleist equipment glad he's on board!
  15. I've worked in Marketing and had a budget to spend. Fact: you get asked what sales and margin you will be creating from the spend. If Titleist are giving Mark £X they want to get back at least more than £X in new additional sales of product - the margin not the gross sales value. So Mark needs to be doing something to create those sales - he can't just carry on, otherwise Titleist wouldn't spend some marketing budget on him.

The moment the viewer gets wind of a presenter taking money from a manufacturer they lose credibility if they say they are going to be unbias. Its a difficult call for mark as he won't know what effect it will have until later - and I'm not sure how you set up a 'Plan B' if it goes wrong?
  16. Lockey rocks and should have been included - either way Crossfield is awesome for unbiased opinions and reality.
  17. I think Mark is always going to say what he thinks in the moment - if there's something he doesn't like he'll say it, if he doesn't like the way coaching is being done, he'll say it. But every golfer/pundit, lie Mark, plays with a set of clubs they think are best for their game - unless they get a whole lot of money to do otherwise - and I don't think this is a money thing - just free clubs and stuff.

And the comments about other golf bloggers who say they would never do this sort of thing don't really have credibility. Every one of these guys will do several WITB videos that by their very nature tell you what they think are the best.

What I struggle with when they say they don't have a deal and couldn't because it would compromise their integrity are the reviews where someone will say they love the colour and everything about this club, they would definitely play it, its their new favourite - and you know what - you never ever see it in their bag again. i.e you-know-who (not Mark) said of the JPX900 last year he "loved the colour but there were some issues", so not in the bag - a year on - ST180 "I love every aspect of this club, I would definitely play this; but I can't bag it because of the colour" - excuse me? - the same colour you loved?

I think we have to get real about YouTube pundit - they have to make a living - they will be playing someone's clubs so by default endorsing - AND who really cares? It's TV entertainment for dark nights and snowy days
