The etiquette section in the USGA rules of golf says: "Players should always show consideration for other players on the course and should not disturb their play by moving, talking or making unnecessary noise. Players should ensure that any electronic device taken onto the course does not distract other players." It seems to me that if anyone else can hear "your music" while playing a stroke, it's too loud and is the duty of the offender to turn off the sound.

How do you all feel about it?

I totally agree with you and plus it's "Rude"

I totally agree Fred. No music or cell phone ringing in backswings. This happens a lot at my local course on league night. Drives me nuts and my game usually suffers from frustration.

The only time there is music allowed at my home course is during golf scrambles - mostly charity events. These are relaxed play rounds and most of the players are only there to have a good time and enjoy the day. I don't see a problem with it during scrambles. Other than that there shouldn't be music on the course.
  5. I have a friend I play with and he plays music. It's playing in the golf cart at a level we can here in the cart only.

A buddy of mine likes to listen to music when he plays, but I just can't do it. It messes with the rhythm of my swing too much. However, I'm not such a stickler of the rules that I'd ever tell a stranger they had to turn down their music. My buddy on the other hand, well....

This falls into 2 categories, etiquette and rules.
If you're not playing for money or in a tournament and decide your not going to follow the rules of golf than it's about etiquette and as long as your not bothering anyone have fun!

If you are playing in a money game or a tournament than it's a breach of the rules and it's not aloud plain and simple. I totally agree there are plenty of rules that are stupid but if you're not gonna follow every one of them than why follow any? You can't pick and choose which ones you want to follow and which ones you don't! Pretty plain and simple.
