Over the years, I've played several Scotty putters, Newports, Futura X, Golo, Cali Fastback, Selects, Studios. Like many golfers I know, I'm a streaky putter who one who struggles to stay in the zone week to week.
Towards the end of last season, I decided to change things up, and work on a left hand low stroke. Almost instantly, I started getting the ball on line, although distance control on longer putts was a bit tough at first. And then, I decided to sideline my Newport and pull out the only Scotty I never sold, a Futura that I bought back in '03. Snap! My putting has greatly improved. I don't know what is about the Futura, but it is almost impossible to not put a good roll on the ball.
I tried the dual balanced Futura X, but I struggled with controlling short putts - the club just seemed too heavy. The Futura, on the other hand, is almost too light. But as it sits right now, this club fits my putting stroke so well, I don't know why I ever went away from it!
