Shoe design and your position at address

    So I don’t know if I’m over thinking coincidences, or if I’m onto something, but I wonder if there is a difference in my height or posture at address when I wear different shoes.

    I love the classic look of the DryJoy Tours, but also enjoy wearing the Tour S, now Tour X design. Looking at the shoes, the DryJoy Tours have a very defined shoe heel, whereas the Tour S is more a sneaker type design. But there’s definitely some structure to the heel of the shoe.

    My question, and I guess I could try and just measure my height, but does the more defined shoe heel of the DryJoy Tours make me a little bit taller? As a sweeper, I feel like I thin a few more shots when wearing the DJ Tours and I wonder if the explanation is as simple as being a little taller.

    I’m in the market for some new shoes and those Premieres are incredible looking, but if the Tour X is the better choice, I’m good with that too.

    For me, its not just the height difference but also the overall feel while playing. I try to practice in the same style of shoe I play on the course as much as possible.

    I don't know about your shoes, but there is a difference in stack height in many shoes. While it does not vary much, it will affect the lie angle. Think about a true fitting where they consider adding or subtracting a 1/4" of shaft length or adjusting the lie angle. But then we also have to assume that our stance is perfectly level for a true comparison. What about thicker socks in the winter as opposed to thinner summer socks? If I'm hitting off a tee instead of the fairway does it change the lie angle? If I replace my worn cleats with new ones do I need to adjust my lie angle for the added height? Maybe I need 2 sets of clubs. One for the winter thicker shoes and socks, and one for the summer thinner shoes and socks.
    This would be a good subject for Bryson DeChambeau to work on.

    Thanks for the responses guys. One of these years I’ll just go for a couple of pairs of the same style shoe and see how it goes.

    In that you like the FJ Tours and and Tour X shoes, they are made on the same last. Which is explained below:

    Laser Plus Last: Full rounded toe character, standard fit across forefoot and instep, with a
    slightly narrow heel. Extra depth last to accommodate thicker FitBed for enhanced
    cushioning.

    My recommendation for you would be the Tour X (in that the FJ Tours are no longer in the FJ line) or the Pro/SLs which are a spikeless shoe, are very light weight and provide great traction. I personally own eight pairs and play three days a week and love them. I also own a pair of the Tour S, and as your see, the Pro/SL is my preferred. If you follow the tour you will note that the Pro/SLs and the new Premieres seem to dominate the FJ line. If you decide to order a pair of the Premieres order the same size your wear in the FJ Tours.

    As to which sock to wear, I prefer the FJ TecSof Tour Sport Roll Top the year round. A very comfortable sock and well keep you well grounded. Recommend you give it a try. The only time I wear a heavier sock is for warmth, not for cushion. With respect. =)
