Used to carry around the Garmin G6. It was nice but my buddy got me going on the Bushnell range finder. best investment i ever made. I like it b/c i can point at an object (bunker, tree, etc.) and get the correct yardage and i love it when i'm on the range since one of the range i go to doesn't have yardages..

My vote is a Bushnell ranger finder. I have the V3Jolt. Love it!

i use my iPhone and GolfShot GPS app. the distances are roughly off about 3-4yrds compared to a range finder but i'm ok with that. it also keep track of my GHIN along with all my stats. i like it.

I use the Garmin G6 which I have had for several years. Still works great, is durable, has a color display, touchscreen to determine layup distances, and free course updates for life. The G7 and G8 have similar technology but are slightly larger. I just clip it to my pushcart so it is very accessible. Although I have only played in the US, they course maps cover N/S America, Europe, and Asia. You can choose to download some or all of the regions. I have not been to a course that the device did not have in the database.

I use a Bushnell Tour V3 for the past few years and it's still going strong. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Bushnell range finders and if you find a new V3 at a good price they function almost exactly like the newer V4's so you would be saving a bit of money there.

Bushnell Tour Z6 JOLT. Have had mine for a few years. Tournament legal and very reliable. Has red optics and easy to ready.

Sky caddie, its the easiest and most accurate on the market. It changes your game and the way you play the game. Knowing how far to clear a bunker or hazard, how far to back edge of green from the next fairway, etc. I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

Check out the Nikon coolshot 20, I have sold a few in my shop and use one myself. They do not come with slope so are also good for tournament play. They fit in the palm of your hand and are a reasonable price!

There are a lot of choices available and a ton of opinions so good luck with your decision. After a bad first choice I went with the Leupold brand and have been extremely happy with it's performance and battery life. Nothing is more frustrating than a range finder that eats batteries. This one lasts and lasts.

Love the Bushnell Tour X. Started using a Bushnell rangefinder 4 or 5 years ago, after using gps for years prior. Will never go back to gps. Rangefinder has so much more to offer, with the ability to measure distance to anything you can lay eyes on and is also very useful on the range. Tour X is the best and can give you slope measurements during non-tournament rounds, but is within the rules during a round, just be switching out the face plate to the non-slope version, which is included in the package. Also, with a 6X magnification, you also can see the green complexes much better from 150 out, giving you a much better perspective on how to play the approach. GPS can't do that. It's like seeing everything through binoculars. For me, this is a huge plus over GPS.
  11. Z6 Tour Jolt - just got it, can't wait to use it.

Any info on the new bushnell 2017 range finder
  13. I'll reiterate the Nikon recommendation - they are a great tool and a nice price point. I bought the Coolshot 20 a few months ago and think it is an outstanding value.

I bought a Bushnell Tour V3 last season and its great. Definitely don't regret it, easily knocked a couple shots off a round just by being able to get that right distance every time. Battery lasts quite a bit and you can buy rechargeable batteries for cheap. Few buddies of mine also have sky caddies and they love them.

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. Considering all recommendations, I decided to ger a garmin s8. I took it out for the first time yesterday, thing is pretty sweet.
  17. I actually use Bushnell and keep my gps watch as a secondary back-up. After all, a range finder is great until you are on the wrong side of a row of pine trees
