I’m about to re-grip my clubs and have always had it done for me - hand clubs over, ask for Tour Velvets with +2 layers. Nice and easy. Now I discover there are different diameters. The shafts are Nippon NS Pro 950, so what diameter should I get? Many thanks

Here's how that works... If your shaft butt is .580 and you use .580 grips, the size will be standard. If you use a .600 grip on a .580 butt shaft, you get a slightly finished smaller grip diameter. If you put a .580 grip on a .600 shaft, you get a slightly larger finished diameter. I don't know what your Nippon's measure to but once you know, you can use this info to determine how many wraps you want underneath. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Had to read your post a couple of times...are you saying there are different diameters of the grip? I'm aware of grips have differing sizes and some even have varying taper sizes within a grip.

I play the MCC Plus 4 for my irons and wedges and the midsize MCC Plus 4 for my driver, fairway wood and hybrids.

I'm not aware of grips have differing diameters.

When you do +2 layers the re-grip would be using buidup tape adding .01"/wrap to your grip diameter. The other diameters I believe are refering to are .015" buildup tape that would only used if you actually requested it and
.014" two sided grip tape. The stated grip size includes the use one layer of two sided tape so this would be included in the re-grip. The Nippon NS Pro 950 have a .610" butt so with the 2 additional wraps and using the .600" Tour Velvet grip you would be midway between standard and midsize.

Thanks Dale, it’s simple now I’ve read your reply. It will be the .600 with 2 layers.
    Many thanks!

I have developed a great relationship over the years with a local repair shop and I take my clubs to them for regripping. They can do them in twice the time and almost as cheaply as I can do them. More of the time factor for me. Do not have to worry about the right fit. With respect. ;=)
