D3 915 Driver Hosel settings

    Hi all, 

    Hope you can help out!

    I bought the new D3 Driver and had a custom fitting from the chap at Direct Golf. I spoke to him and said that I have a slightly high swing plane so my shots tend to fade from left to right. He said that he would custom fit the hosel to aid the ball to move from right to left into more of a draw ball flight. He set the hosel to C1. 

    A few weeks after buying the driver I was still hitting the ball from left to right even after improving my swing plane and after consulting the performance manual it appears to be that the settings are saying that it will help me hit more of a fade and also a lower ball flight? Am I interpreting the manual correctly? Surely I would want the settings to be more like D2 or A2?

    Also my brother has bought the 915F and is querying how best to set up his hosel. He is looking to create more of a draw and a slightly higher baller flight. Any advice on where to have the hosel set?

    Hi Joe,  If you are RH, C1 will lower the loft and flatten the lie, which would help you hit the ball with a bit more fade. 

    A short explanation of the performance chart. 

    If you think of A1 as your starting point (that would be standard loft and standard lie for a right hand player), if you want to hit it higher, move up on the chart and if you want to hit it lower, move down on the chart.  If you want to hit it more to the left, move left on the chart and if you want to hit it more to the right, move right on the chart. 

    So by moving it to C1, he lowered the loft and encouraged a fade.  If you like the loft just the way it was at standard, but want more of a draw, move the settings on that same row to the left - so B2 (small draw) or A2 (bigger draw).  If you want to lower your loft and draw the ball, move your setting down and to the left or C2, D2.

    Hi Joe H,

    I play with 910 D3 and F15, both are set to C1. That's where the similarities stop. My settings are aimed at keeping the ball lower and to minimize my miss, which is a hook to the left. So I am certain that your the recommendation to set the hosel to C1 is incorrect.

    Hi Joe!
    If I understand  you right you don't want to hit the ball with an fade. If you want to stop hit a ball with a fade, you can close your shoulders a little bit. After that try to make an baseballswing. Do that as a drill. That will help you to swing more inside and out. Hope this will help you!

    The standard position for left-handed players is D4.

    Set to D3 for more draw with the standard loft.

    Set to D2 for maximum draw and maximum height.

    Set to C1 for maximum loft and fade bias.

    Set to C4 for minimum fade bias.

    Set to B4 for most fade bias and lower loft.
