  1. I am a recent convert, after playing TM's for 13 years, I made the switch to AP2's (5-9) an AP1 4I, and Vokey Wedges (46, 50, 54 and 58).  I had everything cut down a 1/2 inch and was fitted for S300's.  After 4 rounds and getting more used to the fit, I feel that I am not getting enough spin to hold greens.  Hit a 185 yard 7 iron, flag high but rolled out about 15 feet, playing a ProV1.  Trajectory looked great, and no different than my buddies that hopped, spun and stopped.  My 6 Iron was clocking in at 86 MPH during the fitting, I can't recall spin rates.  I am looking for a couple of suggestions on shafts that I can go try.  I am thinking that having the shafts cut down might be contributing.  I am ok with a little higher flight, just looking for some more spin.  Trying to get back to my 7 I held 6 years ago until life took over.

    Cheers and Thanks.

    Hello CJA,

I would assume the S300 you are referring to are Dynamic Gold?  If they are, then looking at changing the shaft is a good idea.  The one thing with looking for a shaft that offers more spin is to make sure it doesn't hurt your carry distance.  This can happen when looking to add spin.  Not knowing your numbers or being able to see how a higher spinning shaft would work with your game, I would recommend visiting the Club Fitter you originally worked with and let him know the issues you are having.  Any Club Fitter would work and be able to assess your spin issue, but figured the first Club Fitter you might have a good relationship with.  Keep in mind that just about all the shafts should spin more than the DG S300.

Let us know if you have any other questions or need assistance finding a Club Fitter.

  3. Having realized that you haven't seen any numbers, any thoughts on the first shafts that I should look to try?

This all depends on how much spin you might need.  Like I mentioned, a majority of the shafts you try will offer up more spin than the Dynamic Gold.  You could try the Dynalite Gold XP that is more of a mid launch/mid spin option, or try the True Temper XP 95 that is more of a mid-high launch/mid-high spin.

  5. A follow-up to my earlier posts.  I went in and tried several shafts ultimately deciding on the XP 95 S300.  I liked the feel I had for  the club head.  We even determined that I was standard length, with -2 degree lie.  The dispersion became very tight and my misses left were almost non-existent.  I am looking forward to getting out with my new shafts later this week.
