Just had a great fitting session in Winston-Salem , NC . Replacing my AP1 712 irons S300 shafts. After two days and 3 hours and several different shafts, I found that the Graphite Shafts (stiff) gave me the best results (also eliminated some elbow and shoulder pain I was having when I hit my clubs). I'm 58 with a 12 HDC , Retired and play golf at least 3 times a week. I'm just nervous about investing in the Graphite Shafts after playing with only steel shafts in my irons.......anyone else made this move?

I am a few years older than you with a few more ailments. 65 with a little carpel tunnel left wrist, bad L4 and 5, and some burcitis in right shoulder. I can play my Ap1 710 with 105 reg. shaft about 2 rounds per week, but will switch out and play my old Cbra FP's with reg. shafts for a break, the shafts are markedly easier on me.  I am definitly going to get fitted for the AP 714 here next week with fiberglass shafts.  Have demo'd them and love the feel and consistency.  Hope this helps.  Good luck

The only thing I don't like about my graphite shafts (GD R flex) is the transition to stock Vokey wedges with the DG 200S shafts.  The PW and GW feel like they are from 2 different planets.  As part of a fitting if winter ever ends in WI, one choice on the table is to look at reshafting the 712 PW or replacing with a 714 PW with a TT 95/105 shaft as a transition to the Vokeys.  I'm not as comfortable with the PW as I am with the GW for partial swings.

I'm 64 and my fitter's answer to my question about metal or graphite was - "are you planning on getting any younger" as it was a close choice at the time.
