Now that the new GT Metals are out and a lot of us have been fitted for them, I am sure there will be a lot of new Drivers and 3 Woods on order... Earlier in May I got fit for a new set of irons and my set starts with a 4 iron. I am curious after watching "The Open" where a lot of the pros were gaming 2 irons, what the general feeling was amongst the TT members regarding the option of using long irons or hybrids... I understand the new Hybrids should be hitting the market some time next spring. Do you prefer a 3 iron or a hybrid for your game, or does it change based on the course you are playing ???

I have a 3 and 4 hybrid and probably always will. They are sooooo easy to hit off the deck and I get great distance out of them.

At our skill level we should take whatever help we can get.

Great topic Darius being that all new drivers and woods plus hybrids will soon be on the market for everyone to purchase,
I have been playing with a 4 iron since 2016 great for those link courses and teeing off for bullet drives, Also the 4 hybrid is great .
So to answer your question I prefer both , they are very useful depending on the course preferences. Cheers!
  4. Personally I switch back and forth between a 3 hybrid and a 2 driving iron. The newer driving irons are much more forgiving than a stock 2 or 3 iron in a set. I find the driving irons to be great for lower launch and getting more roll in dry conditions.

I ditched the 4 iron last month and went with a 24* hybrid it took a while during the fitting to get the club to go the distance I wanted to, but now I trust the strike and the yardage.
  6. I play a 3 and 5 hybrid. To date I’ve never hit an iron higher than 5 but it would be interesting to try.
