I currently game a Scotty Cameron GoLo 5 which I purchased quite a few years ago. It is generally very good to me, but there are days when I start to wonder if I should perhaps pick up something new. Given the fact that the putter is used for close to 40% of my shots during a round perhaps it is time to invest in a new putter... I only have the one putter so I do not have the option of changing putters when I play on faster or slower greens. I am curious - How many putters do you have ? Do you switch regularly based on conditions, or because one starts to act up, or are you like me and only have the one trusted companion ???

I do have two. I use a fairly old Futura X that I bought some years ago 99% of the time. But when it acts up and needed to be benched/lockered for a week or two, I have a newer Futura 5X that can use. Sadly, our course will close this weekend and both will be used on the basement putting green until April.

I've got three... a Scotty Pro Platinum Newport 2 with original grip, a Tilteist Acushnet Bullseye with the original grip and for the really fast greens where I have to channel my Lee Trevino winning THE OPEN.... a Wilson 8802 from the early 70's with the original grip. I don't put my putters in the corner for not performing, again channeling Lee, "It's not the arrow, it's the Indian".

I am of the opinion there are two views as to putters.
There are those who have multiple putters and rotate between them whenever one of the putters goes cold and needs a break.
The other school is to live and die with one putter and rarely change.
I am part of the second group and have only ever used 1 of 3 putters my entire golfing life. I had a old brass putter that I used in my teens and twenties. In my thirties I got a Scotty Cameron Del Mar that I used into my fifties. I am now in my sixties and have used a Scotty Cameron Futura X for the last ten years or so. I play about 100 rounds a year and maintain an index around 1 or 2 so it seems to work for me to choose a putter that fits your stroke and just practice with it until you get the results you want.

Well Darius, you're thinking about opening the bag to new options. I'm left handed so not a lot of Scotty's out there for to choose from (not that I haven't been collecting them). I do always bring a Newport 2 and a Phantom X 5.5, mostly just for green speeds.
  6. I have changed Scottys a number of times over the years. In the past, I would trade my existing when I wanted something new, but now my financial situation allows me to buy something new from time to time and keep what I have. My latest purchase was last March, the Phantom X 5.It replaced 2 covid purchases; 2018 squareback and 2018 Newport 2. I put a midsize Matador grip on it. After some back and forth in the first month of the season, the Phantom. has been a permanent fixture in my bag. It would take something pretty dramatic to get me to change right now.

I have about 22 Scotty's. I prefer blade style. I have been known to rotate them but always come back to a 34 inch Newport 2. Go to a golf store and try different models to see what is out there.

I have 2, a 2017 Newport 2 and a 2020 Phantom X12.5. Since getting the Phantom i've eliminated 3 putts. It's the best putter I've owned. I had an odyssey 2 ball, a png cadence, and some other one that didn't work for me.

i have a few putters but my gamer is a 35 inch black Newport 2. I still have a very old (one of the real early ones) png anser that I won in a tournament back in the mid 70's. I have friends that switch out putters frequently but I personally find that I am more consistent when i play the same putter.
