  1. This can be a touchy subject. One of my pals has really gotten into the lead tape craze. I think it can be a quick and efficient way to make adjustments between rounds. However, I know a lot of purists may be against it. Thoughts?

Working as a marshal for years at Colonial I saw a lot of tour pro bags and it was pretty common to see lead tape on irons and wedges. They really didn’t care if it was not pretty, they are all about performance.

I've fiddled with lead tape here an there over the years. I put two strips on my vokey 46 after I just couldn't get it to go the distance I hoped for and and it felt different than my favorite 52 vokey.
When I did it got me the 4-5 yds to make a proper gap and felt better and closer to the 52.

On driver I have added it to the toe or back of head to feel it a bit heavier and slow my swing down.

Had three strips of lead tape on Scotty red x after I put a super stroke thick grip on to feel the weight back to normal.

Ultimately feel is what it seems to help the most with and an inexpensive toy to play with on the range that can be removed when needed.
    Cheers friend.

I actually use a little bit of lead tape on some of my irons because Titleist does their build based on either a standard or medium grip. Because I use the Large CP2 grip I found there was a significant difference in the swing weight between clubs as one went from the 4 iron through to the wedge.
I can't remember right off which ones I needed to add tape to, but I only did it once and kept it that way...

I added a Superstroke grip to my Red X2 so I took the plate off the bottom and added lead tape inside the putter to make it heavier. I like the feel of a heavier putter.

I share James G's view especially with drivers and putters. Easy way to add weight and "tinker".
