Well with the first day of frost this morning and the season close to over I was wondering what team Titleist members are going to do through the winter. Here in barrie we have indoor golf im going to give it a try to keep my swing in check.

With covid I'm thinking of building my own garage Sim. I've been saving up for a while to do this. I'm going either flightscope or foresight, not too sure yet.

This winter will be a very long one!!
Depending on what happens with COVID will depend on what I will do.
Last winter , was hitting balls inside a simulator a couple of times a week.
I was recently told that that facility will not be opening at all, for the safety of staff and patrons.

Gonna do a Bruce Leitski.... at the end of the year his Caddie put his clubs away in Bruce's garage, but because of his players continual success on the Tour, the Caddie didn't believe Bruce when he said he never practiced or played during the Winter months, so the Caddie placed a banana on the top of the bag dividers and covered it with a towel that he used to clean the clubs after each shot. The next Spring, the Caddie was at the first event of the year and his player, Leitski gave him his clubs to carry to the Practice Range where the Caddie was surprised to find a very ripe and black slimy banana.
No need to go overboard or even practice during the Winter, it's over, done, finished, relax, just enjoy another Sport or your family as Bruce did. Golf isn't everything.

Hey Steve... Thanks for getting me depressed thinking about the end of the season already :( Not your fault, I can feel it coming with our course already experiencing it's first frost delay, but I have been trying to ignore it ! This winter, I do plan on getting a fitting for my new TSi driver so I am all set for next season. Our course has a simulator and I am hoping it is open in some fashion this winter, but still waiting to hear their plans due to Covid. Apart from that I will likely putt in the basement and pout the rest of the time :)

    Lethbridge,

Going to be a long winter. Indoor golf sim just opened here probably going to give it a try a couple of time. Then again may just drive my wife nuts looking out the window asking “ how long till the course open and is this co-vid crap over”

Now that I’ve been playing quite a bit and I’ve got my swing dialled back in. I’ll be also hitting a local indoor simulator a few times a week.

By spring time of next year I’d like to go see the crew at the Titleist fitting center and get some new irons and a driver in the bag for next season.

When COVID hit in the spring we were not sure what would happen with the season so we installed a home simulator. We had been thinking about this for a few years but the time felt right. We ultimately went with the GCQ - it is awesome and we are very happy. Since we are not likely to travel south this winter, this will be our home hobby and sanity check.

@JasonK - there is a golf simulator forum that is absolutely gold for info on every launch monitor and installation choice out there - highly recommend you start there if you haven't found it yet. Lot's of discussion and ideas for garage installations.

I've been a member/lurker there for years. I finally went with a flightscope X2 Elite. I'm going to get the sports screen and attach my impact screen to that so it can roll up and away when its not in use.

Well if the borders open back up by March, you guys are welcome to come down to San Diego and join us when we do our local TT outing. Probably on Saturday, March 20. Course TBD but you can stay several more days and hit some of the many courses in the area.

    Lethbridge,

I remember golfing in the San Diego area a few years back, well maybe quite a few years ago, at Singing Hills Resort. The courses there were excellent and now probably even better. To Canadians looking for an early golf outing I would definitely recommend the San Diego area.

Hopefully golf. There's a 9 hole par 35 golf course that is open during the winter by my place. Got my Titleist Winter Mitts and a stadry cart bag, so I'm ready to go this winter.

    Sweet...
I was thinking about doing something like that in my garage, but the first thing I would need to do is eliminate the existing garage door opener with a wall mount instead of a ceiling mount unit. Plus - my garage is not heated nor insulated so the cost just keeps growing :(
I wish my basement had 10 foot ceilings. That would make life a lot easier !!!

I’m with you Darius, the costs just keep adding up. I’ve thought of converting the garage into a simulator but the costs are just crazy high.

Luckily I’ll be looking for a new house over the winter so I’ll be able to take that into consideration when finding room for a simulator

My biggest cost was the Flightscope. The other little things are coming up to another $5000 - $6000 so yes its costly but it will pay itself off as I won't have to go to an indoor sim anymore.
  19. Or you can drive to Dorchester and play Pine Knot up until Christmas or until there is snow. They punched their greens in August, and now they are perfect again. It is the only course I know that you can play in the middle of November and March, and be able to putt on the greens and get roll in the fairway.
There will not be any trips South this winter due to Covid, and I really don't see the attraction to indoor golf. Hopefully, we can keep playing here into November and then start the season again in March.
Last 2 mornings have been cold, but given the alternative, I am not missing a game.

Annandale in Pickering is always open year round. They are closing at the end of this season though as they aren't renewing the lease. I think condos will go up in its place as its right across from Durham live.

4 Season's in North Pickering also does year round golf I believe. I'll play as long as there is now snow and it has to be above 10 degrees. Maybe if there is no wind that day I'll play in a little colder weather.
  21. The thing about Pine Knot that is unique in my opinion is the condition of the golf course in winter. Somehow, their greens are still in great condition and fast. It doesn't feel like you are playing out of season golf. They are built on sand, and they have incredible drainage. The ball still rolls in the fairway. The biggest factor when playing now for me is the wind. Yesterday was supposed to be warmer than Saturday, but with the wind it felt much colder. Combine that with the fact that I dressed lighter thinking it was going to be warmer and the end result is that I was cold. I won't make that mistake again.
