Watching the Honda Classic on Saturday and seeing that (at this point) only 8 players are under par with the leaders tied at -4 got me thinking... Have they found the answer to all the concerns about the long hitters ? At just a hair over 7,000 yds one would think the tour players would eat this course up, yet on day three the leaders are only in the neighbourhood of -4 relative to par. It leads on to believe that they have found the secret to eliminating the advantage of length. Perhaps this venue could be used for the U.S. Open at some time in the future. It is common belief that the USGA is always trying to find a way to have the winners of the U.S. Open be the amongst the few who can meet the challenge and manage to break par after four days. Possibility ????

Usually they would not venture that far south in June. The course would die if they tried to cut the greens and fairways that tight. Players and spectators would have issues with the heat. You also get some afternoon monsoonal rains in the summer. I guess anything is possible but this site would be pretty unlikely.

I agree with Dale, unfortunately. Course would be epic for a US Open with the Bear Trap coming down the stretch and high risk high reward par-5 finish!

Wow. To think about US open rough on that course down the stretch. Scary!

Well, we could always move the US Open to March and become the first major of the year while the Players Championship moves to June!

Of course, with April first on the horizon, I'm also "demo'ing" some potential material. :)
